Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain a level gauge for each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapon and armor. This can be done through a number of means, including using upgrade components and upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their stats.
You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in all over the world and are rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are items that slot into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others give general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be placed on any equipment, and offer less than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
Choose the item from your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected statistics after the upgrade. If you don't have enough of either the upgrade button will show as Blocked.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the number of upgrade components required for an item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increases. However you can cut down on this cost by purchasing upgrades from a vendor, or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded by an upgrade to a prefix, such as an insignia or rune. Many are upgraded by a suffix upgrade. These upgrades change the name of the item and add an adjective, for example 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, which makes them more effective in communicating a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph increases the value of a stat by certain amount. This is shown on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the highest value that the glyph can improve a stat by but not the amount it actually increases it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of it.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been incorporated to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards so this should not be considered a loss.
If you take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards that are part of that glyph will disappear. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to make it more valuable. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at one time. This is helpful for players who take a lot of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes on their equipment and weapons, and they can be obtained through a variety of methods like mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. item upgrading give players a new random affix, which is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens are also a great method to reroll the stats of a weapon and can be upgraded to provide better damage or perks.
Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they can still be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle the recycled items. This will alter the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be selected for recycling. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, which means higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll weapons to upgrade units. A reroll will roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it is lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
Rerolling is a great option to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be reduced by the number that it took to reroll it to the final level. This reduction effect is most effective with ring items and Diadems, which have no other options for raising ilvls.
Players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It would be fairer to let people pay for it with money or food items that would allow players to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add an ability to change races in the near future.

Leveling
There are a number of ways to level up an upgrade to an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the upgrade value for a stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade that increases the damage or heal of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades can be random. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times when a greater or special roll can occur. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the type of item and if you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique type, it will have a chance to gain a higher iLevel.
The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The cost will depend on the item's iLevel base and the number of upgrade levels it comes with. Some upgrade tracks also require crests in order to get to the next level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item will get to the top of its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will increase the item's upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level however. Generally speaking the upgrade effect is increased by a number of +3.
The iLevel will also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance an item upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an exceptional one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
